Includes Nestor and Palm city. One of the more confused locations of San Diego County for two reasons: San Ysidro is the first "town" over the Mexican border. It is governed and policed by the City of San Diego. Secondly, the whole south section is isolated from the main body of the City of San Diego. National City and Chula Vista stand between downtown San Diego and South San Diego.

The confusion aside, housing in this region consists mainly of tract homes and apartments. Much of the construction took place after 1970 and as there is open land, the building continues.

The homes generally follow tract designs: two car garage, three bedroom, utility lines underground (the practice in newer subdivisions). Many homes, lawns cared for; some not.

Schools are served by the South Bay Union Elementary District, which also includes Imperial Beach. A new high school is in the works.
