AVERAGE LIST RICE: 4 BEDROOM $667,000 - 3 BEDROOM $441,000
One of the older neighborhoods of the city. Views of the bay and Pacific. In northern
area, on the flight path for the international airport. Other neighborhoods included but
not broken out are Sunset Cliffs, La Playa, Roseville, and Loma Portal.
Point Loma is a long peninsula that hooks over the entrance to San Diego Bay. A gentle
ridge about 50 feet high runs down the middle for most if its length. East of the ridge
line many homes with views of the bay. West of it, the homes have views of the Pacific.
Point Loma is built out but with the closure of the Naval Training Base (opposite the
airport to the west) some land might open. Point Loma is more oriented toward home
ownership.
East of Rosecrans the land is taken by hotels, restaurants and stores. The residential
section, to the west of Rosecrans, includes large, older homes. Old fashioned lampposts
decorate the streets. Everything is well maintained. The look suggests a quieter, more
genteel era. But there's a lot of the new here, many homes have been remodeled so exterior
charm and modern convenience are found together. Some are up scale, many custom, and many
modest. Views cost more, and possibly so does quiet - the noise from jets taking off at
the San Diego Airport which is a problem in the north sector.
About 7 to 10 miles to downtown San Diego with a lot to do including beaches, water
sports, playgrounds, and shopping.
